MoonKo Magic!

Updated: May 20, 2024

I have always been a big supporter of independent businesses. MoonKo is a lovely shop on Division Street in Sheffield City Centre and is owned by the wonderful Deborah. She sells dried flowers, prints and handmade gifts, it smells gorgeous in there! In my first year of university I would often go there to buy my mum some dried lavender, I got talking to Deborah and we chatted about music.

When thinking about my EP cover, I knew I wanted to tie it to Sheffield somehow. I had a lightbulb moment and thought of MoonKo. I could just imagine my harp looking so magical against the pretty flowers. So before Easter I popped in and asked Deborah if I could get some photos in her shop and she was up for it!

This morning was the day we decided. I asked my lovely friend and coursemate Ella-May Thornely if she could take the photos and this made it such a personable experience. Deborah kindly let us in before she opened her shop. We spent some time trying to get the harp in a good space. Deborah came up with the beautiful idea of putting her dried flowers at the bottom of my harp so it looks like it’s grown from the flowers. We got some promo photos done too which will be handy for my freelance portfolio.

It was a wonderful experience working with a local creative professional. To top it off, she even suggested that I could host an EP launch/listening party in her shop and I took up her offer of course. I am excited to start planning it!

Check out Deborah's wonderful shop, she is such a gem!
